Isto não é bem uma agrura – é um prazer mórbido. 🙂
Mais a sério, a imagem do escritor como anti-ecologista funciona como piada (e Sedaris é acima de tudo um humorista) mas não creio que vá muito para além disso numa época de computadores e processadores de texto.
Claro que ainda há autores como Norman Rush, que tem 3 máquinas de escrever de 1955 alinhadas no gabinete (escreve numa, reescreve noutra, anota apontamentos na terceira) e deve gastar papel com fartura. Mas são casos raros.
